Power restored after cable theft

Nearly all the Nottinghamshire homes which were affected by a major power cut have been reconnected.

Around 200 customers in West Bridgford and Edwalton lost their supply after thieves broke into a substation to steal copper wire.

The raiders stripped cable from a substation in Edwalton on Friday lunchtime, causing the power cut.

Tea, coffee and blankets were offered to affected residents while engineers worked to restore power supplies.
