Drivers warned over tree felling

Motorists have been warned to expect delays on the A46 in Nottinghamshire while tree felling work is carried out.

The Highways Agency said the work is part of site clearance prior to improvements being carried out to the road between Newark and Widmerpool.

Temporary traffic lights will be in place from Monday between 0930 GMT and 1530 GMT each day until 22 March.

The tree felling will take place between the A606 Melton Road and Owthorpe Road.

Project manager, Geoff Bethel, said: "While we will do everything possible to limit any delays during the week, road users should plan their journeys and either allow extra time or seek alternative routes.

"We have to carry out the work now, as we need to make sure that the trees are felled before any birds start to nest."
