Man robbed in sledgehammer attack

A Nottinghamshire man was hit over the head with a sledgehammer by robbers as he was taking out the rubbish.

It is not clear how seriously the victim was injured, but he tried to fight off one attacker, while two other men stole items from his house.

The attack happened on The Green in Carlton-in-Lindrick at around 0820 GMT on Tuesday.

The robbers are described as white, in their late teens to early 20s, and all had their faces covered.

They ran off across open fields and it is thought they escaped in a waiting vehicle.

Two flat screen televisions were among the items stolen.

Anyone with information about the robbery should contact Nottinghamshire Police.
