A Nottingham football club has said it will continue to push for full planning permission for its new ground.
More than 100 supporters of Arnold Town attended a meeting of Gedling Borough Council which was considering a dispute over its Eagle Valley complex.
Most of the site has been given the go-ahead but planners have said training pitches are too close to a main road and must be screened with a high fence.
The council voted to defer its decision for further study.
Youth teams
The club has said a fence would be too expensive and the delays mean its youth teams were missing out on using the facilities.
But planners have said the risk of balls going onto the A614 and causing an accident must be dealt with.
Speaking after the meeting, Arnold Town board member Paul Stanley, said: "Part of the plans were approved and that means we can open two parts of the facility.
"Unfortunately, we are still left with three or four pitches along the A614 that won't be able to be used until this matter is resolved and that affects up to 22 teams."
A spokesman from Gedling Council said it was working with the club and Nottinghamshire County Council to resolve the issue.
