Woman dies in two-vehicle crash

A woman has died in a car crash in Nottinghamshire, police said.

The woman died after a collision between her Peugeot car and a heavy goods vehicle on the A17 near Coddington, Newark on Thursday.

The accident happened between the junctions with Long Lane and Drove Lane at about 1445 GMT.

Police said the woman, who has not been identified, suffered multiple serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

The driver of the lorry was uninjured.

The A17 was closed for about six hours while crash investigators examined the scene.

Nottinghamshire Police has appealed for any witnesses to contact them.
