Funeral for crossing death woman

Jean Hoggart
An inquiry has begun into the fatal incident

The funeral has taken place of a Nottinghamshire woman who died crossing a railway line with her grandson.

Jean Hoggart, 58, and seven-year-old Mikey Dawson were struck as they crossed the track near Bestwood Village on 22 November.

The service was held in her home town of Hucknall. Mikey's funeral was due to be held on Thursday.

Residents and councillors have criticised safety at the crossing and Network Rail has set up an inquiry.

MP Paddy Tipping said he would be in contact with Network Rail over the results of the inquiry.
