Third cash delivery is targeted

A string of robberies from security vans in the past two weeks in Leicester are being investigated by police.

The latest happened on Thursday afternoon on Saffron Lane as a security guard was making a cash collection.

He was robbed by a man in dark clothing, who then got into a waiting car, drove off and later dumped both the car and an empty cash box.

Police said they were keeping an open mind about links with two other raids in Southfields Drive and Eyres Monsell.

Abandoned car

The security van was in the car park of an Iceland store and as the security guard returned to the van the man took a cash box.

No one was injured during the incident and no weapon was seen.

The car and cash box were later found abandoned in a car park on Pendlebury Drive, Leicester.

It is then thought that the suspects got into a red car and made off.
