Warning after spate of car thefts

Amateur footballers in Nottinghamshire are being warned to take all valuables out of their cars while they play after a spate of thefts.

Six vehicles at the Gresham Football Complex on Wilford Lane in West Bridgford were broken into on Saturday and a further three on Sunday.

Police said they were keen to trace two men seen looking into cars on Sunday who then drove off in an old BMW car.

Anyone with information about the the incidents is asked to contact police.

Insp Norman England from Nottinghamshire Police said: "The start of the amateur football season sees a big increase in the number of vehicles left unattended when both adults and juniors play in local football matches.

"People playing or going to these games and venues need to remember not to leave sports bags and sat-nav systems on view, as this is almost inviting a car thief to break into their vehicle."
