Three charged over head-on crash

Three men have been charged in connection with a head-on collision in Nottingham which left a woman with serious injuries.

Police were following a BMW onto Western Boulevard when it went the wrong way down the road and crashed.

Richard Coker, 31, from High Street, Stanton Hill, Sutton-in-Ashfield, has been charged with six offences.

Shane Chapman, 28, from Radford and Martin Ryan, 31, from Huthwaite, were charged with aggravated vehicle theft.

All three men are due to appear before Nottingham Magistrates on Tuesday.

Six charges

The car had failed to stop for officers and was travelling the wrong way down the road when it was in collision with a Daewoo car on Sunday afternoon.

The male driver of the Daewoo and his female passenger were taken to the Queen's Medical Centre for treatment and the driver was later released.

The woman remains in hospital, but her injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

Mr Coker is charged with driving without insurance, handling stolen property, failing to stop at the scene of a road traffic collision, driving whilst disqualified, dangerous driving and failing to stop for police.
