Masked men rob church post office

Two masked men have robbed a post office at a church in Nottinghamshire.

Wearing balaclavas, dark jackets and gloves, the men entered the post office at St Luke's Church, in Kinoulton, at about 1400 BST on Tuesday.

The robbers threatened a member of staff, demanded money and stole an undisclosed amount of cash, before fleeing in a red Ford Ranger 4x4 truck.

They drove along the A46. The vehicle was later found burnt out in a field in Wysall, south Nottinghamshire.

The offenders were described as white and between 5ft 9in and 6ft tall.

The police are appealing for witnesses and information about the two men and the truck.

Parish councillor Elizabeth Evans said local residents were "very sad" about the incident.

The service was started in June after the village post office closed, and runs within the church for three half days each week.

Ms Evans said: "We tried so had to get it going and keep it going and make it a community thing, and we just don't want what happened yesterday to spoil all that."
