More than 100 people had to be evacuated from their homes while firefighters fought a blaze at a paint factory in Nottinghamshire.

Emergency crews were called to the building on Newstead Road in Annesley at about 1730 BST on Sunday.

Police officers told nearby residents to close their windows because of the fumes coming from the blaze, but later moved 117 residents from their homes.

About 50 firefighters tackled the blaze until about midnight.

It is not believed anyone was injured in the blaze and residents were allowed to return to their homes in the early hours of Monday.

The factory was severely damaged in the fire and an investigation into the cause has begun.
