Man critical after stab incident

A 42-year-old man has undergone emergency surgery after a stabbing incident outside a bar in Nottingham.

Police officers were called at about 0030 BST on Sunday to the Loft Bar on Mansfield Road in the city centre.

It is believed the incident happened at the back of the building, behind a fire exit on North Sherwood Street. A cordon has been in place overnight.

The man was taken to the Queen's Medical Centre where his condition is described as critical but stable.

Forensic scientists are examining the scene.

Nottinghamshire Police has appealed for any witnesses or anyone with information to contact them.
