Driver dies in two-car collision

A driver has been killed in a road accident in Nottinghamshire.

The victim was in a Mini Cooper when it collided with a Vauxhall Astra on Mansfield Rd at Halam near Southwell at about 0930 BST on Saturday.

The driver of the other car was taken to Nottingham's Queen's Medical Centre (QMC) where her injuries were described as serious.

The road was closed earlier on Saturday for crash investigators to examine the scene, police said.

Detectives want to speak to anyone who may have seen the accident.
