Warning following theft of sheep

Police in Nottinghamshire have issued a warning to the public following the theft of sheep which had been treated against Bluetongue disease.

Two ewes were stolen from a field in Weavers Lane, Annesley between 10 and 11 June.

Police said the sheep had been slaughtered at the scene and were unfit for human consumption.

A police spokesman said the public should only purchase meat from reputable sources.
