Elderly residents of some care homes in south Nottinghamshire are being given the chance to use computer games to help them keep fit.
Nottinghamshire County Council has bought Nintendo Wii consoles for several care homes and for day and community support centres.
According to the council, the games can help people with limited mobility to exercise and improve motor skills.
Managers said residents were enjoying the bowling and tennis games.
Creating a buzz
Jeremy Dignum, manager of care home Leawood Manor in Edwalton, said: "The Wiis are gradually becoming more popular.
"They help to improve dexterity and help people with early stages of dementia to focus mentally."
Braywood Gardens in Carlton and Bramwell Home in Beeston also have the games consoles.
Councillor Alan Rhodes added: "They [Wiis] have generated a real buzz and, as well as offering an element of fun, they can also help to maintain fitness levels, increase mobility and focus the mind."
