Curators at a Nottinghamshire air museum are appealing for help to reveal the history of a special exhibit.
David Hibbert from the Newark Air Museum said he wants local people with stories or information about the Buccaneer XN964 to contact the museum.
He said the aircraft was built in the mid-1950s as an anti-shipping warfare aircraft for the Royal Navy.
It is thought the aircraft was involved in the clean up of the Torrey Canyon oil spillage, off Cornwall, in 1967.
Mr Hibbert said: "We believe very strongly that the history of aviation is worth preserving.
"If people like ourselves didn't do it then it would be lost forever."
