Street attack 'recorded on phone'

An attack on a woman in a Nottinghamshire town may have been recorded on a mobile phone.

Police said the 54-year-old was walking along Pond Street, Kirkby-in-Ashfield, late on Sunday evening when a young man started a conversation.

While the woman was distracted, a second person threw a bucket of kitchen waste over her head.

The first offender apparently recorded the incident on his phone, then taunted the woman and used abusive language.

Appealing for information, police officers said the attack was "cruel and demeaning" and caused the victim "considerable distress".
