Power firm's 465 city jobs boost

Energy company E.ON has announced it is creating 465 jobs at three of its sites in Nottingham.

The jobs, which are mostly customer service roles, will be based at the firm's offices in the city centre, Phoenix Park and Sherwood Park.

The company, formerly known as Powergen, already employs 3,500 people in the city.

Powergen created 150 extra jobs in Nottingham in January 2007 after closing its call centres in India.

Mandy Flatley, human relations spokesperson for E.ON UK's retail division, said: "It's a real joy to be able to bring even more jobs to the city.

"We're working hard with Nottingham's other employers to ensure we can attract as many local people as possible."

The German-owned utility company employs 17,000 people across the UK.
