Controlled blast at Ikea premises

Bomb disposal experts have carried out a controlled explosion at the Nottingham Ikea store after a suspicious package was found.

Nottinghamshire Police evacuated the Giltbrook store and shut its car park just after 1430 BST after a suitcase was found in the store.

There had been fears it would cause rush hour traffic problems on the A610 and junction 26 of the M1.

But the incident was dealt with and the store reopened just before 1700 BST.

The suitcase proved to be empty.
