Man denies night sexual assaults

A man has gone on trial accused of night time sex attacks on two women in a north Nottinghamshire town.

Cezary Zalewski, 30, of George Street in Mansfield, denied raping a 38-year-old woman and sexually assaulting a 19-year-old last summer.

Both women were dragged from Stockwell Gate in Mansfield and taken to a dark alleyway or passageway to be attacked, Nottingham Crown Court heard.

The prosecution described the attacks as "every woman's worst nightmare."

The jury heard the 38-year-old victim had been on her way home from a nightclub in the town, and the 19-year-old was walking back from a birthday party.

The attack on the younger woman was interrupted after a passer-by heard her screams, the court heard.

It is alleged that CCTV footage showed Mr Zalewski walking with the women moments before the attacks.

The trial continues.
