A 24-year-old man is recovering in intensive care after being deliberately run over in a Nottingham street.
The man was hurt after an incident in which a group of men were attacked by a gang as they left a bar on Fletcher Gate in the early hours of Monday.
A car was then deliberately driven at a local man as he lay in the road.
He suffered serious head and facial injuries and a broken pelvis and is currently in intensive care at the city's Queen's Medical Centre.
'Very serious'
The victim had been with friends for a night out in Nottingham.
Detectives are now going through CCTV footage from the area around Warser Gate, where the incident happened, and have appealed for witnesses to come forward.
Det Sgt Mike Allen said: "We believe a silver or grey car was deliberately driven at the victim as he lay in the road.
"He was dragged under the wheels for about 30 feet before falling free as the car mounted the pavement. It then drove off into the Lace Market.
"It is vital we trace the car and its driver. This was a very serious incident and could easily have been fatal."
