Council's bid to sell city abroad
Cannes
The visit to Cannes will be 'challenging and demanding'
Officials from Nottingham are heading for the south of France, in a bid to sell the city to overseas investors.

Chief executive Michael Frater will lead a team of officials from the authority and private sector at a property conference in Cannes.

The delegation hopes to secure international investment for development sites in the city.

The council will use a moored yacht - paid for by local businesses - as a base for meetings.

Director of City Development Barry Horne said it was important that Nottingham was represented at the event.

"We're setting up lots of meetings to talk to big investors about why Nottingham's such a wonderful place to invest.

"It's not as glamorous as it sounds. It's actually a very challenging and demanding week with long days but it is a chance to connect with people and show them that the city is serious."

The event, which is expected to attract about 26,000 people, will run from 11-14 March.
