Hundreds of people in a Nottinghamshire village have been questioned as part of an inquiry into a murder 25 years ago.

Colette Aram, 16, a trainee hairdresser from Keyworth, left home to walk to her boyfriend's house on 30 October 1983 but never arrived.

Her body was found in a field near her home the next morning. She had been raped and strangled.

Officers have been interviewing people in Keyworth over the past two weeks as part of the inquiry.

A Nottinghamshire Police spokesman said: "The inquiry into the murder of Colette Aram has never been closed - it is an active investigation.

"As part of the investigative process officers have reintroduced house-to-house enquiries, which were first carried out in Keyworth in 1983."

The case was the first ever featured on "Crimewatch" in 1984 but no one has been caught.
