Warning over lorry lay-by thefts
Drivers have been warned to be vigilant following a spate of thefts from lorries on the A1 in Nottinghamshire.

Offenders cut the trailer cover of a lorry parked on the A1 near Tuxford and stole more than 900 boxes of toy dolls overnight on Monday.

Thieves took bottles of whisky from a lorry parked near Blyth on Tuesday and underwear was stolen during a similar incident near Newark on Friday.

Police have urged any witnesses to contact them.

Ch Insp Glenn Harper said: "The A1 through Nottinghamshire is one of the main arterial routes for long distance lorry drivers travelling to and from Dover.

"The drivers have to stop and sleep so we are asking for the assistance of other motorists to report anybody acting suspiciously around lorry trailers."
