Razor blades concealed in sandpit
A child has uncovered two razor blades buried in a sandpit in a children's play area in a part of Nottingham.

The razor blades were discovered by a toddler playing at Bridgford Park on Saturday afternoon.

The boy was not hurt. Some parents whose children play in the park said they believed the blades had been hidden deliberately.

In a statement, Rushcliffe Borough Council, the park's owners, said sandpits were checked every day.

"We recognise that, sadly, there are risks in today's society that we need to guard against," the authority said.

"We are always vigilant, as our daily park inspections prove, along with the fact that this is the first incident of its kind.

"If we ever receive a report of an issue, a rapid response team is sent immediately to clear up the problem. We encourage residents to report any problems to us."
