A man who was suspected of carrying a gun has been subdued by Nottingham police using a taser gun.
Officers were called to the High Street in Beeston at 1130 GMT after reports a man was shouting at passers-by.
He then got in a van and drove off erratically. He was stopped by officers but acted aggressively and a taser was used. No firearm was found.
A man in his 40s has been arrested on suspicion of affray and of criminal damage to a vehicle.
The suspect is being assessed under the Mental Health Act.
The weapons, which deliver a 50,000-volt charge to immobilise a person, are currently the subject of a national trial.
