Dumped asbestos threatens reserve
Some of Nottinghamshire's beauty spots are being ruined because of careless behaviour, a wildlife trust has said.

Charles Langtree from Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust said bags of asbestos had been dumped on Attenborough Nature Reserve near Nottingham.

People who let their dogs off their leads and chase birds were also frightening the wildlife.

Mr Langtree urged anyone seeing suspicious behaviour or fly-tipping to report it.

"What was particularly annoying about the asbestos dumping was that someone had obviously paid for it to be taken away as it was all bagged up and then it just got dumped here," Mr Langtree said.

"We manage 70 sites across the county and with all those people walking dogs, the dogs chase birds into the undergrowth and earlier in the year when they were nesting, it can be quite sensitive for them.

"If you see anyone doing anything they shouldn't, please report it to the police or one of us," he said.
