Evacuations after village floods
Families were forced out of their homes
Some families had to remove furniture from their homes
More than 150 homes in north Nottinghamshire have been flooded and about 200 left without power after weekend storms in the area.

Homes had to be evacuated as rising waters got closer to low-hanging power lines in North Leverton on Saturday.

An emergency rest shelter was set up at the Retford Leisure Centre for the night but most people were able to find alternative places to stay.

Central Networks said it would be "some time" before power was restored.

Jonathan Smith from Central Networks said there was a big task ahead of the engineers.

"The problem we have is that we need to check 150 homes to make sure that after they were flooded, the internal wiring is OK before we can switch the power back on.

"It's going to be a long old job to do that and we also need to restring those overhead cables and check our substations that have been flooded as well."

Engineers believe it could take up to 48 hours to get the power supplies back to normal.
