An environment centre has opened at a primary school in Nottingham to help pupils learn about green issues.

The centre at Blue Bell Hill Primary School in St Ann's has a dozen computers, an interactive white board and a projection centre.

It is surrounded by its own meadow and orienteering course to help children from schools in the area to learn more about their surroundings.

The centre will also be made available to businesses as a meeting venue.

"The building has fantastic views...this will give children great access to the natural environment as well as the equipment to view and study natural phenomena," said Nic Williams, a teacher from Blue Bell Hill Primary School.

The school will use the centre - which took three years to complete - for lessons in art, environmental studies, science and orienteering.
