Girl, 17, assaulted on way home
Police in Nottingham have appealed for witnesses after a 17-year-old girl was seriously sexually assaulted.

The teenager, who is from Eastwood, was walking towards Plumtre Island when a man approached her from behind.

He pulled her into the gardens of the Island flats at about 2330 BST on 19 April and subjected her to a serious sexual assault, police said.

The man then ran off along Plumtre Way. He is described as about 5ft 10in tall with a bald or shaved head.

He is believed to be in his 40s and was wearing a black denim jacket.

"This was a terrifying attack on a young girl who was walking home after meeting her boyfriend," said a police spokesman.

"Incidents like this are rare and we are treating this report seriously. We would urge anyone with information to come forward."
