Polish newspaper set up in city
A Polish language newspaper has been started up for Nottingham's growing migrant community.

The first edition of Nottingham in Polish has been funded by HSBC and Signpost to Polish Success, a community group based in the city.

Editor Dr Beata Polanowska said the newspaper had been set up to communicate with new arrivals who speak little English.

She said the publication would inform them about cultural events in the city.

Dr Polanowska said: "There's no other news that would cater for their needs. They listen to Polish radio online and they watch Polish satellite television but they don't know much about what is happening locally.

"The aim is to inform them about cultural events in Nottingham as well as political and social issues.

"We want to engage them more in local culture and life in Nottingham, so they are more connected with the environment they live in."
