Princess to unveil Market Square
Hayley Westenra
Hayley Westenra laid the first slab in the revamped Square
Nottingham's revamped Old Market Square is to be officially opened by Princess Anne, it has been announced.

The Princess Royal will unveil a plaque to commemorate the 7m redevelopment of the Square on 3 April.

The revamp has seen the Square levelled out with granite paving slabs and seating areas and flowerbeds added.

The city council is holding two weekends of celebrations in March, including a live music concert, to mark the opening of the redesigned Square.

The new Square's first slab was laid by New Zealand singer Hayley Westenra in April 2006.
