Town bomb scare 'deliberate hoax'

Streets were cordoned off for two hours

A bomb scare which saw the centre of a Nottinghamshire town evacuated was a "deliberate hoax", according to police.

Streets around the Mansfield Building Society were sealed off at 1600 BST on Tuesday after a package was found in its reception area.

A specialist bomb team carried out a controlled explosion at 1800 BST and the cordon was lifted soon after.

Officers now want to speak to anyone who might have seen the package being left behind.
