Mother and sons on drugs charges

Two brothers and their mother have appeared in court charged with drugs, firearms and money-laundering offences.

Paul Hardy, 45, of Willow Avenue, Kirkby-in-Ashfield, and Gary Hardy, 43, from Mansfield, appeared before Mansfield magistrates.

They were remanded in custody until 13 April with their mother June Muers, 65, of Pearl Avenue, Kirkby-in-Ashfield.

The charges followed an operation using more than 100 officers from Mansfield and specialist units last week.

Gary and Paul Hardy and June Muers were charged with conspiracy to supply Class A, B and C drugs, possessing firearms and money laundering.

Last Thursday police searched a number of properties in the Kirkby and Sutton-in-Ashfield areas and 10 people were arrested as a result. Seven people have since been released on police bail.

These include three men and two women from Kirkby and Sutton-in-Ashfield, and a 52-year-old man from Derbyshire.
