Taxi driver robbed at gun-point

A cabbie has been robbed at gun-point in part of Nottingham.

Richard Brister, who works for Clifton Cars, was held up after being dispatched to an address in Sherwood that did not exist.

When he tried to find the house two men appeared - one of them masked and armed with a gun - and demanded cash.

Mr Brister handed over £70 and a mobile phone but was said to be unhurt during his ordeal. It was the third time he has been robbed or attacked in the job.

The firm's owner Kevin Clarke said the men threatened the driver even after he handed over his takings.

"They asked him to put his head between his legs and that really did shake him up. He thought his number was up according to what he said to me and they just legged it after that," he said.

He added that drivers were being urged to be extra vigilant.

"We're telling them to be very, very careful as regards when they're picking up, to keep the doors locked until they've made a certain contact.

"But there's only so much we can actually do. They're actually at the scene and they've got to try to assess it as best they can when they see the people."
