Bulwell, Nottingham
The special constable was dragged along the road
A special constable is in a serious but stable condition in hospital after he was dragged along by a car when he tried to arrest a man in Nottingham.

The man, 33, was injured as he tried to arrest a suspect at Grindon Crescent in Bulwell Hall on Tuesday evening.

Nottinghamshire Police said it regarded the incident as attempted murder.

A local man, 20, was arrested at the scene. Two men aged 24, 20 and a 17-year-old youth, all from the Bulwell area, have also been arrested.

Road crash

Police said the special constable was undergoing reconstructive surgery and further medical examination on Wednesday.

He was injured as he tried to detain a suspect who then drove off with several other men - dragging him along the road.

Officers said the men made off in the car which was later involved in an accident on Hucknall Road shortly after.

The scenes at Grindon Crescent and Hucknall Road were cordoned off and door-to-door inquiries are being carried out.

Officers have appealed for anyone who witnessed either of the two incidents to come forward.
