Major roadworks are starting at one of Nottingham's busiest road junctions.
The £700,000 improvement scheme at Canning Circus will involve the laying of new pavements and installation of pedestrian crossings.
The work is the final part of a scheme to upgrade lighting, crossings and walkways in the area and should be completed by Friday.
There will be some temporary lane closures and work in the busiest areas will be restricted to off-peak times.
New square
An average of 42,000 vehicles use Canning Circus each day.
All roads in the area will still be accessible via a temporary diversion.
Another city centre project, which also starts on Monday, will eventually include the building of a new public square in Hockley.
There will be no access for vehicles to Stoney Street from Broad Street during the £400,000 scheme.
Both the Hockley and Canning Circus schemes have European and Central Government funding.
