A 24-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder over the shooting of Pc Rachael Bown in Nottingham.
Trevon Kyron Thomas, from the Bilborough area of the city, was arrested as he boarded a flight at Heathrow Airport on Friday morning.
Pc Bown, 23, who was wearing a stab vest, was shot in the stomach in Lenton, Nottingham, last Monday.
The officer, a constable for less than two years, is recovering after surgery at Nottingham's Queen's Medical Centre.
Her parents have said she was "hugely touched" by the warmth and support of the public who had sent flowers, gifts and messages from all over the world.
Mr Thomas will appear before magistrates in Nottingham on Monday morning, a Nottinghamshire police spokeswoman said.
