Attacks blamed for shift changes
A company is restricting services in part of Nottingham, because of fears for staff safety.

TV and phone firm NTL said engineers are only being sent to the Meadows in pairs and in daylight following "acts of intimidation" against its staff.

A number of its engineers have been attacked over the past month and equipment has been stolen.

NTL said customers were not so far being affected but the safety of its staff was paramount.

The company is only going to morning appointments in the Meadows and sending two staff to one-man jobs.

A spokesman said the firm only took such measures when absolutely necessary.

The police said they were investigating the incidents.
