Woman's body discovered in house

A murder inquiry has started following the discovery of a woman's body at a house in Sutton-in-Ashfield in Nottinghamshire.

Christine West, 47, was found with stab wounds at Brookfield Avenue on Saturday evening, police said.

Officers are carrying out door-to-door enquiries in the area and the murder scene has been cordoned off.

A post-mortem examination at Leicester Royal Infirmary showed that she died of stab wounds.

Detective Superintendent Kevin Flint said: "It is important that we hear from anybody who was in the Brookfield Avenue area on Saturday.

"We would also like to hear from witnesses who saw anybody going to or from 32 Brookfield Avenue."
