CCTV bid to stop fire attack yobs
Fire engines in the greater Nottingham area have been fitted with CCTV cameras to deter attacks by yobs.

Fire bosses said there had been 15 attacks on crews and vehicles in the past eight months.

They are concerned the number of incidents may rise in the run-up to the busy Bonfire Night period.

Brigade leaders said crews can switch on the cameras and film anyone throwing objects and then pass the footage on to the police.

Vic Mcmillen, station manager for Gedling, said: "It is terrible that any public servant is attacked whilst carrying out their duties.

"Sadly there are youths out there who think they're big and clever by throwing things at our firefighters.

"We want these people to know that we will be filming them and we will be passing the footage to the police, who take attacks against all emergency service personnel very seriously."
