City leads way in nanotechnology
Nottingham will be at the forefront of nanotechnology thanks to a £3.5m grant.

The cash will go towards a new research centre to help companies develop revolutionary new products at a scale of thousandths of a millimetre.

It will be led by a range of organisations in the city, including Nottingham's two universities.

Science Minister Lord Sainsbury said: "This funding will play a vital part in developing a new network of micro and nanotechnology facilities."

The East Midlands Development Agency is also involved in the project and the centre will be based at BioCity in the city centre.

Dr Richard Masterman, from the University of Nottingham, said: "The expertise and techniques available through the facility will bring significant benefits to the healthcare sector, including pharmaceuticals, food, textiles and medical devices."
