The square will be closed to the public for a year

The Lord Mayor of Nottingham is to lift the first paving slab as work begins on the long awaited £7m revamp of the city's Old Market Square.
The proposals will see the square transformed into a space which the council says will be more flexible, useable and stylish.
It includes a complete redesign of the area including new water features and removal of all the old steps and walls.
The square will be closed to the public for a year while the work is completed.
The new look will feature high quality materials including granite slabs. Three different kinds of stone were laid in April to see which one would wear best.
Hoardings will be put up around the square later to screen the area as work is carried out.
