Mobile phone use 'led to allergy'
Brian Stein
Brian Stein blames mobile phones for his electricity allergy
A businessman claims mobile phones have made him allergic to electricity.

Brian Stein, of Nottingham, runs a food company in Melton Mowbray with a £500m turnover but is unable to use a computer or even watch TV.

He said his problems began after using mobile phones for several years and he developed severe headaches.

The National Radiological Protection Board said it was investigating several similar claims but there was no medical proof of problems.

'Modern cars'

Mr Stein has his office at work and his home fitted with low-voltage lighting.

He said he was even affected by top-of-the range cars because of the number of electrics in them.

"I had used a mobile phone for about 14 years with no problem then in my 15th year I started to get headaches," said Mr Stein, from East Bridgeford.

"After I had become affected by the mobile phone, and I stopped using it, I then found shortly afterwards that I was being affected by modern cars and computers."

Mr Stein, the chief executive of the Samworth Brothers company, relies on his secretary to do most of his computer work for him.

The medical profession does not recognise the condition.

"People have told me for four years it is psychosomatic," said Mr Stein.

"What my argument with the medical profession and the scientists is this is not difficult for me to prove."
