Warning over rise in car crimes
Motorists are being urged to keep their vehicles secure from car thieves in the run up to Christmas.

Police in Worksop say there has been a recent rise in car crime in the town centre, particularly at weekends.

Leaflets containing crime prevention and car security advice are being handed out in town centre car parks by Police Community Support Officers.

Officers are warning people not to leave shopping, handbags or cash on view in cars.

They are also advising drivers to have alarms fitted to vehicles.

High visibility patrols will be taking place in and around car parks during November and December and CCTV operators will be monitoring car park activity.

Barry Bowles, spokesman for Bassetlaw District Council, said they would be working with police to ensure car crime was given top priority over the Christmas period.
