Police holding five suspects over the shooting of Danielle Beccan had until Thursday morning to continue to question the men about her death.
Danielle, 14, was shot from a passing car as she walked home from a fair in Nottingham early on Saturday morning.
The five men were arrested in central London on Monday night and transferred to Nottinghamshire on Tuesday.
On Wednesday night police holding them were granted an extra 12 hours in which to question the men.
Mother's appeal
A Metropolitan Police spokeswoman said the five were stopped by officers in Westminster at 2030 BST on Monday.
"Westminster officers carrying out a routine stop and search check arrested five men in Grosvenor Road, SW1," she said.
Police in Nottingham said the men had arrived for questioning in the city on Tuesday, but refused to give the suspects' ages or details of where they are from.
Danielle died of a gunshot wound to the stomach after she came under fire on her way from Nottingham's Goose Fair.
On Tuesday, her mother, Paula Platt, had made an appeal to anyone who had information on the killing to come forward.
In a statement, she said: "I feel very angry. My child is lying in a refrigerator. She should not be there."
She added: "If anyone knows anything, please examine your consciences and come forward and tell police."
