Friends and colleagues of a police dog handler killed in the line of duty in Nottingham are holding a charity concert in his honour on Saturday.

Pc Ged Walker was fatally injured trying to stop a stolen car in Bulwell in January 2003.

David Parfitt was jailed for 12 years for manslaughter in December 2003.

Profits from the "Proms in the Park" at Thoresby Estate near Ollerton will go to the Ged Walker Fund and Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance.

Attractions at the family event include the Nottingham Police pipe band, the Thoresby Colliery Band and local comedy skiffle band Kick 'n Rush.

Organiser, Pc Michael Allsop, who worked with Pc Walker, said: "This started out as a private initiative and I've been overwhelmed by the support and response from friends and organisations who have been touched by Ged's tragic death."
