Shop shooting man 'targeted'
Crime scene
The shooting took place in broad daylight
A man shot in a Nottingham hairdressing salon had been due to give evidence in court, according to police.

Police believe Omar Watson, aged 24 and from Nottingham, was deliberately targeted.

He was a customer at Nefertiti's Secret, at the junction of Peveril Street and Alfreton Road, when he was shot at about 1300 BST on Friday.

He was taken to hospital, but pronounced dead soon afterwards.

'Picked out'

A post mortem on Saturday confirmed he died of multiple gunshot wounds.

The victim had been involved in a previous shooting and was due to give evidence soon at a trial.

Officers from Operation Stealth, which targets gun and drug-related crime, have indicated the man was deliberately picked out.

Chief Inspector Ian Howick, from Nottinghamshire Police, said: "It does not seem to be a robbery and it does not seem to be a random shooting - it seems to be more targeted than that.

"There were a significant number of people around at the time and we are appealing for any witnesses who saw or heard anything to contact us.

"The number of offenders and the means of their escape is something we are investigating at the moment and hopefully we will find out more in the next few days."

Forensic teams are continuing to examine the scene.
