Council says no to naked dancing
Table dancer
The club was refused permission due to its location
Councillors in Nottingham have refused planning permission for a city centre table dancing club.

They say the decision was made because of the club's location.

Daybrook House Promotions, which runs Rock City and has managed the City in the Park concerts, was behind the move to bring table dancing to the area.

It is the latest in three attempts for such licenses by different organisations after previous applications for the Isis club in Lenton and one for a club in the Meadows.

This most recent application was for pole dancing on the ground floor of Envy night club on Goldsmith Street and for table dancing in private booths on the first floor.

It meant dancers on the stage would be topless and private booth dancers would be completely naked.

The venue is only 250 yards from the Market Square.

The city council's licensing committee rejected the application on the basis of its location and concerns about the effect the club would have on crime and disorder in the area.
