Pot holes close major road
Large pot holes which have appeared in the A1 have forced part of it to close.

Essential repairs are being carried out and traffic is being diverted onto other roads.

The A1 in north Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire will be shut throughout Sunday and the whole of next weekend to enable the urgent works to be carried out.

The northbound carriageway will be closed between Carlton on Trent and the A57 at Markham Moor and southbound between Tuxford and Markham Moor.

The Highways Agency says the concrete road surface has deteriorated significantly and work is needed to restore safety for motorists.

Diversions are in place but drivers are warned to be prepared for slight to moderate delays
